The Monument to Frederick II, inaugurated in December 1995, is placed in the courtyard of Palazzo Ghislieri, opposite to the museum dedicated to him and the square in which he was born that now bears his name.
The bronze monument is 4 metres high and depicts the Stupor Mundi (Wonder of the World) wearing the tunic and cape typical of Eastern Roman emperors.
It was created on the initiative of an Italian-Germanic committee with the collaboration of the Frederick II Foundation of Hohenstaufen of Jesi.
The original sketches, by internationally renowned sculptors Benedetto Robazza and Herman Schwahn, were developed by Jesi artist Massimo Ippoliti.
